The Scranton City Council on Sept. 30 approved five separate motions to correct typographical errors in the first "whereas" clause of resolutions passed at last week—s meeting.
The council moved and adopted corrections for the following resolution numbers and wording changes: - Resolution No. 255 of 2025: change "Scranton Cultural Center" to "Scranton Fire Department." - Resolution No. 256 of 2025: change "University of Scranton" to "Steamtown Church." - Resolution No. 257 of 2025: change "University of Scranton" to "Westin Park Baseball." - Resolution No. 258 of 2025: change "University of Scranton" to "Scranton Cultural Center." - Resolution No. 259 of 2025: change "University of Scranton" to "Providence Pregnancy Center."
Each motion was made, seconded, carried by voice vote and recorded on the meeting transcript. Council members and the meeting chair clarified these were typographical corrections prepared by the legal department and required correction on the record.
No substantive policy changes, funding adjustments or programmatic effects were introduced by these corrections; they corrected incorrectly named organizations in the initial whereas clauses only.
