Scott Schmidt, the district’s executive director of research, provided a wrap‑up of financial‑accountability items tied to the 2020–2025 Strategic Plan of Action and summarized which goals are met, partially met or ongoing.
Key points Schmidt reported: the district achieved its 1:1 technology goal and established a routine refresh cycle with inventories and spare devices; participatory budgeting and funding‑stream alignment (F4) are in place and marked met; bond Phase 2 projects were completed on time and within budget and produced savings that allowed additional facility work to be advanced; private partnership funding alignment (F5) and the facilities plan (F6) are partially met because alignment requires funder‑specific approaches and the five‑year facilities plan is still in progress.
Schmidt said the facilities work used ESSER funds for HVAC and roof repairs where appropriate and that regular environmental audits of school buildings were underway with a renewed audit instrument and weekly spot checks by District Operational Services when staffing allowed. He noted a high‑level estimate of building needs over long range planning and said phase‑2 bond projects were completed as planned.
On communications, Schmidt said the new district website launched in prior years and that a mobile app remains in development; rollout timing was paused to avoid overloading stakeholders and to coordinate with a third‑party transit app (“Find My Ride”). The app effort remains partially met and is being scheduled as part of moonshot tactical work.
Board members asked for additional details about participatory budgeting procedures and how philanthropic funding requests (for example, building‑specific projects) will be screened to promote equitable distribution; Schmidt described administrative controls, messaging to funders and an executive‑cabinet review process to prioritize alignment with district goals.
Ending: Staff said work will continue to refine private funding alignment, finalize the five‑year facilities plan and schedule the mobile app rollout to coincide with other stakeholder communications.
