County invites project worksheets for Golden Leaf Community Based Grants program

County staff briefed commissioners on a Golden Leaf Foundation Community Based Grants Initiative available to counties and nonprofit or municipal partners in the North Central Prosperity Zone.
Economic development staff said counties may submit up to four projects totaling $2 million and that no single project may exceed $1.5 million; local governments and eligible nonprofits are eligible applicants. County staff asked departments and potential external partners to submit project worksheets by July 8; an internal review panel will evaluate submissions on July 21 and staff will submit the county's recommended project list to Golden Leaf by the August (application deadline referenced) and final materials by September 4 for the foundation’s selection.
Staff said the program favors projects that create jobs or improve local quality of life. The county will make information available to towns and nonprofits and invited commissioners to recommend projects or organizations for consideration.
