District bond projects, internship program highlighted after busy construction summer

Beaverton School District bond staff told the board on Sept. 9 that summer 2025 was among the busiest for construction and maintenance work, and that major projects were completed with few schedule‑critical issues.
Highlights provided by the bond team included: - Aloha High School: extensive HVAC upgrades and partial new air conditioning; crews worked seven days a week and extended shifts to complete work in time for school start. - Mountain View: seismic upgrades nearly complete with work finished in most of the school; gym work finishing over the coming weeks. - Meadow Park: received seismic upgrades and a new roof during the summer. - Oak Hills: four‑classroom addition scheduled to be complete in December and new covered play structure opened for the school year. - Cooper Mountain Elementary office renovation: most work completed, but replacement windows were delayed and scheduled for installation the weekend of Sept. 22; staff said offices are occupied and temporary accommodations were made. - Beaverton High School and Raleigh Hills: major replacements under construction with staged timelines; Beaverton High expected to be substantially complete in summer 2026.
Bond staff also showcased an internship program that placed 18 students with project teams and contractor partners over the summer. Staff said several interns gained industry experience and that partnerships with contractors enabled hands‑on learning.
Bond staff said the program remains on budget overall, with a program contingency used to manage costs and to expand the scope of seismic projects where necessary. The bond accountability committee will review budget details in a scheduled meeting.
