Council clarifies CSI forensic-services interlocal: no extra cost for contract cities

Council members reviewed an interlocal agreement with the county for technical forensic services (CSI). Staff reported that they contacted the sheriff's office to confirm whether the line item in the draft interlocal produced a new or additional charge.
Staff said the sheriff's department confirmed that for contract cities (cities that contract policing services with the county) the CSI cost is included in the county contract and is not an extra or separate charge. The interlocal language, staff said, provides for a split for non-contract cities that have their own police departments; those jurisdictions must pay additional CSI costs directly. Council members accepted the clarification and indicated no substantive change in cost for Hooper City from the interlocal as presented.
