Board authorizes attorney to prepare townwide refuse collection RFP; no commitment to contract

The Town of Goshen board on June 12 authorized the town attorney to prepare and finalize a request for proposals (RFP) seeking pricing and proposals for a townwide refuse collection model.

Town staff described the work as a preliminary step to collect pricing and gauge whether a consolidated, townwide approach would reduce costs for residents. The board clarified the RFP is exploratory and does not commit the town to any procurement or aggregate contract; any final decision would return to the board for approval after members review bids.

Several board members and staff noted the RFP draft is lengthy and will require review before publication. The town attorney was authorized to prepare a final version and incorporate board and staff edits; staff emphasized the process is intended to surface numbers and options for discussion rather than obligate residents or the town to a particular vendor.
