Committee reports omnibus Voting Rights Protection Act covering audits, drop boxes and election administration

House Bill 1396, the Voting Rights Protection Act, was reported out of the House State Government Committee. The omnibus bill would update provisions for ballot drop boxes, pre-election audits, electronic poll books, early voting and other election-administration matters; it received bipartisan praise and some concerns about timing and costs.
