Board approves multi‑year math resource adoption to spread costs

The Lansing School Board voted to adopt new math instructional resources after district staff negotiated multiyear contracts and discounts with vendors. Staff told trustees the district was able to spread payments over multiple years and secure multi‑year discounts; the adoption is intended to provide stability for seven to eight years and reduce the need for frequent adoptions.

Miles, the staff presenter, said the package reduces short‑term budget pressure by extending the resource adoption window and supports the district’s guaranteed and viable curriculum. Trustees asked whether assessment items could be modified by teachers for differentiation; staff said certain platforms allow teachers to adjust assessments to better meet students’ needs and noted they would confirm whether those changes apply to formative or summative items.

A motion to approve the math resources adoption was made and seconded; roll call showed the motion carried and the presenter thanked trustees.
