Bannock County staff report courthouse security upgrades and progress on exhibit and annex projects

Davenport said the courthouse had new metal detectors installed at all entrances, including juvenile probation, and that the intercom system was functioning. She said the county opened doors on Sixth Street the morning of the meeting and that improvements to the parking lot and new ADA ramps were intended to improve pedestrian safety. "The new metal detectors have been installed at all of the entrances, including juvenile probation," Davenport said.
On the annex, Davenport reported the HVAC project is wrapping up; she said the space went from one HVAC unit to seven units and that final inspections were scheduled for Monday. At the exhibit building, staff completed underground utilities including sewer, water and fire suppression; Rocky Mountain Power installed a new power pole. Interior framing is complete, electrical rough-in is underway, an overhead garage door is in place and drywall and door frames are being installed. Davenport said contractors need to hang about 350 sheets of drywall before June 1 to keep the schedule.
At the youth detention center (YDC), Davenport said framing was about 90% complete, with water and sewer lines scheduled next week and roofers expected the week of the 19th. She said Headwaters Construction is the general contractor on site and that Dan Kendall has been consulting with them. Davenport also reported audio-visual equipment and finish trim for the commission chambers had arrived but said the chambers project had slowed because contractor resources were focused on the exhibit building.
Davenport added that the courthouse boiler was shut down for the season and that a contractor (identified in the transcript as "Rocky Mountain boiler") had staged replacement equipment; the transcript says two new boilers will be installed over the next three months.
