Chief Brian VanCamp, representing county fire chiefs and MedEquin Operations Committee, accepted a proclamation for Emergency Medical Services Week and said local fire departments responded to more than 48,000 medical and fire calls in 2024.
Maria Tobin of the South Sound Military and Communities Partnership accepted a proclamation for Military Appreciation Month, noting the region’s relationship with Joint Base Lewis‑McChord and stating that about one‑third of service members assigned to JBLM live in Thurston County.
Other proclamations included Older Americans Month, National Police Week and Public Service Recognition Week. Prosecuting Attorney John (transcript: Tienaib) and treatment‑court staff accepted a proclamation for Therapeutic Court Month and described local drug, mental health and veterans courts, noting anniversaries and participant outcomes.
