Staff: framework for Appendix A changes to boards and commissions will be returned this summer

Eric Thomas of the Planning Department provided a brief update during the commission's May 6 meeting, explaining that the item on the agenda referencing Appendix A is being managed by the City Clerk's Office and the City Manager's Office and that a framework for evaluating and recommending changes to boards and commissions is in development.
Thomas told commissioners the topic had earlier been discussed by the Audit and Finance Committee and that the committee provided direction to return later this summer with a framework for how Appendix A (referenced in the resolution) would be evaluated and how any changes to boards and commissions would be recommended jointly by the City Manager's Office and the City Clerk's Office. "There have been no concrete changes made to any boards or commissions as a result of the resolution that's on the agenda today," Thomas said.
Thomas said commissions that could be affected by recommended changes would be contacted by the City Clerk's Office or City Manager's Office before final recommendations are issued. He advised commissioners to direct questions through their liaison so those comments would reach the appropriate offices.
Commissioners discussed committee assignments and clarified that Council action is required to make formal committee changes and that commissioners must sign forms and oaths once Council acts. Thomas's update was informational; the commission did not take formal action on Appendix A at the May 6 meeting.
