Hidalgo County Commissioners on April 29 approved a resolution supporting the county’s submission to step 2 of the Texas Department of Transportation Transportation Alternatives (TA) program and authorized Precinct 4 to submit by invitation and sign documentation.
County staff said TxDOT selected the county’s preliminary application to advance to step 2 and that the TA program funds pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure, preliminary engineering and environmental work, and requires a local match (cash or transportation development credits if eligible). The resolution commits the county to project development, implementation, maintenance and to provide the required local match if the project is selected.
Commissioners also approved authorizing Precinct 4’s commissioner to sign the application materials on the county’s behalf. The motion passed on a voice vote.
