Council recognizes Keep Temple Beautiful ‘Little Sprouts’ graduating class

The council recognized the Keep Temple Beautiful "Little Sprouts" graduating class, a partnership between the City’s Housing & Community Development Department and Temple Independent School District at Western Hills Elementary.
Maggie Spellings and Belinda Garcia presented details about the program. Spellings said the semester’s activities included collecting 16.5 pounds of recycled materials at a school that previously did not recycle, planting pollinators in the school front, and "champion[ing] seven young leaders" to lead sustainability efforts. A student, Lydia, recited a short poem about the program.
Council members congratulated the students and program staff. The recognition was ceremonial and did not include funding or policy actions in the transcript.
