Klamath County commissioners approved an exception to policy requested by the sheriff to hire a candidate into a sergeant position at Step 7. The sheriff told the board the preferred candidate is a current sergeant at a local fire protection district (KFPD) who has held that rank since February 2019, and that the position was budgeted at Step 7 in the county's adopted 2024-25 budget.
