District outlines fall/spring athletics plan while high‑school fields are offline

The district outlined plans on April 21 for athletics operations during the high‑school construction project, when on‑site fields and some parking will be unavailable for up to two years.
Christy (last name not specified), who leads athletics programming, presented the practice and game plans by sport. Girls' soccer will practice at Coles State Park with most home games moved to grass fields at Roger Williams; boys' soccer will use Terrace Field for practice and Rod Williams for home games when possible. Coaches and staff will stagger JV and varsity scheduling to manage lighting and field availability.
Football was described as the most complex transition. The program will overseed part of the on‑site lacrosse field for August/September practices and then move practices to Jamiel Park for October and November. Home football games will be held Friday nights at Veterans Field behind KMS in Warren; the district reported new uprights and a new scoreboard will be installed there.
Other arrangements: girls' tennis will use Rod Williams, girls' lacrosse and boys' lacrosse will practice at Coles State Park and play home games at Naomi Street Field where possible; softball will move to Bristol Parks; track field events will use Barrington facilities as needed. The district said it has purchased replacement soccer goals and football uprights and will provide shuttles for students, particularly underclassmen without driver licenses, to reduce transportation burdens.
Graduation will be held at Roger Williams for the next two years; the district has secured the venue and overflow plans. Staff said they will issue posters and email communications to students and families describing parking, shuttle and schedule changes prior to the fall semester.
No committee vote was required for the athletics plan; staff said they would continue coordination with town parks and public works for field access and maintenance.
