The Patrick County Board of Supervisors approved two appointments to the county Public Service Authority (PSA), voting unanimously to appoint Jeffrey Houchins and to reappoint Bobby Mainer to four-year terms.
The appointments were taken as separate motions. A supervisor moved to appoint Jeffrey Houchins to the PSA as the representative for the Blue Ridge District for a term beginning October 2025 and expiring October 2029; a motion to second that appointment was recorded. Supervisors Marshall, Kendrick, Perry and Overby each voted “aye,” and the presiding official also recorded an “aye,” carrying the motion to approve Houchins’s appointment.
The board then moved to reappoint Bobby Mainer to the PSA for another four-year term. That motion also was seconded, and the same five supervisors voted “aye,” approving Mainer’s reappointment.
Both motions were presented and decided during the open meeting after a closed-session certification. The transcript does not identify which supervisor made each motion or which supervisor seconded them by full name; the roll-call votes recorded in the meeting show only the surnames Marshall, Kendrick, Perry, Overby and the presiding official voting in favor.
Before adjourning, the board approved a motion to schedule its next meeting for 6 p.m. at the Patrick County Community Building in October.
