Community Corrections reports software changes, staffing and training; awaiting KDOC program-review schedule

Community Corrections Director Michelle Callum gave a semiannual update to Saline County commissioners April 29 outlining software changes, staffing and program activity and raising concerns about possible state funding reductions.
Callum said the office recently moved messaging platforms to a program called Repath, which adds GPS monitoring and other features, and that pretrial staff have implemented new case-management software from Catalyst. She reported current daily adult-program population figures of 416 clients (297 active, 19 inactive) with 74 clients in drug court and 52 in pretrial services; juvenile services had about 90 clients with 205 juvenile intake/assessment incidents recorded Oct. 1'Mar. 31.
Callum said staff have been preparing for a KDOC program review (audit) that was scheduled but postponed due to KDOC staffing shortages; she said she expects the review at a later, unspecified date. She also said the agency's comprehensive plan submission to KDOC had minor corrections and should be approved soon, allowing state funds to flow on July 1.
Callum described ongoing training and an annual conference that drew about 70 attendees last fall; she said staff travel to regional training events and that some staff recently attended out-of-state trainings. She also reported the agency's FY26 allocation letter indicated flat funding for 2026 and noted potential future reductions in KDOC funding being discussed at the state level.
Ending: Callum said recruitment for a vacant adult-division position is underway and that the department continues outreach and training; commissioners asked questions and offered support but took no formal action at the meeting.
