Economic development update: Prometheus site activity, stipend allocation approved

County economic development staff updated commissioners on Prometheus-related activity at a local site and requested the board approve the second scheduled stipend payment for the year.
"I did see that the property is still owned by BWT Holdings," Britney Anne, economic development staff, said when discussing a recent site visit. She said Prometheus representatives were at the site last week and that she planned to contact Simon for an end-of-month update even if no substantive change had occurred.
Britney Anne told the board she would discuss the possibility of a Prometheus satellite office in Greene County so company representatives could be on site "boots on the ground" during the project. "We've got that office and we have 3 offices that we could let him use 1 just while the project is ongoing," she said, describing available space.
Separately, the board approved the county's pre-budgeted second allocation for economic development operations and support. A commissioner said the stipend is budgeted annually to support economic-development duties and made a motion to approve the stipend; the motion was seconded and passed.
Economic development staff also said the housing committee did not meet in July and would meet the next day; staff expected to have a housing update after that meeting.
