The Fort Pierce Planning Board on Aug. 11 recommended approval of a master plan development application from Pulte Home Company for the Cornerstone planned development at 2721 South Jenkins Road, subject to 15 conditions including a new condition requiring phasing changes to secure a north access and a school bus loop in phase 1.
Leslie Olson, principal with District Planning Group representing Pulte, told the board the project proposes a 250-unit fee-simple single-family neighborhood on roughly 49.92 acres, with two phases, a linear park, walking trails, rain gardens and a sculptural identity feature at the site's southwest corner that would serve as a city entrance. "This will be a tall sculptural feature," Olson said, describing a planned public-art call coordinated with the St. Lucie Cultural Alliance.
