Orderville board approves two-year TextMyGov premium subscription

Orderville’s town board approved a two-year premium subscription to the TextMyGov texting platform, voting 4-0 after staff summarized vendor references and implementation details. The board discussed a two-year contract option and the difference between the standard and premium packages before moving forward.

Brianna, a town staff member, told the board she had contacted nearby municipalities that use the service. “Monroe only uses it mainly for their recreation department, getting registrations and things like that out,” she said, and added that other cities “spoke very highly of it.” Trey, representing the vendor, described the typical setup timeline: if the town completes paperwork “by tomorrow,” the system setup and implementation usually takes “30 to 45 days,” and the vendor will assign a project manager to work weekly with town implementation contacts.

Board members debated whether to trial the premium package to better test usage. One member described concern about low uptake on the town’s previous messaging platform, Remind, which the town paid more than $3,000 to use with minimal adoption. The board ultimately voted to approve a two-year premium package and directed staff to deliver the signed agreement to the vendor the next day.

The contract approved covers the two-year premium TextMyGov package with vendor-provided implementation services; the board did not vote on specifics such as the final contract text or renewal terms at the meeting. Staff said they would return the signed agreement to the vendor and begin implementation steps.
