VDOT presents Accomack County’s Secondary Six‑Year Plan; board adopts resolution

Isdale told the board that the county’s projected secondary system and unpaved road funds are down compared with prior projections, noting a six‑year decrease in projected telecom fees of $72,792 (about $12,132 per year). He said total SSYP (secondary system) funding projected to come to Accomack County over the six years is $541,932. Isdale reviewed the county’s current priorities: the completed 602 Cemetery Road (project 1852) was removed from the funding queue; remaining priorities include 609 Redwood Road (shelf project), 604 Hogneck Road (an estimated $100,000 project fully funded in out years), 787 Seagull Lane (estimated $25,000), and 743 Frogstool (estimated $125,000). He described countywide UPCs established for engineering/survey, unpaved road additions, and spot improvements and provided six‑year pot estimates for each (countywide engineering/survey ~$569,000; spot improvements ~$235,000; countywide unpaved additions ~$27,000 subject to change).
Board members asked for clarification about specific shelf projects and timing; Isdale said Redwood is a shelf project pending development of scope and costs. After the presentation the board considered and approved a resolution adopting the VDOT Secondary Six‑Year Plan for FY 2026–2031.
