The Corinne Fire Department reported nine calls in March, including four medical calls, two structure fires, one carbon monoxide incident and two grass fires. Department leadership told the council that three members are completing Fire 1 and 2 hazmat awareness and hazmat operations certificates, and wildland firefighters are completing the required annual refresher.
Council members and staff reported that the department secured a replacement engine through a bid process and paid $20,000 for the vehicle; the department expects the engine to be in service by April 19. The department also confirmed state-required inspections and that radios are installed on apparatus covered by the county MOU.
The department requested donations for asphalt work around the fire station (in front of bays, south side, and maintenance bay). Members cautioned residents about spring runoff and increased grass-fire risk.
Fire-report details announced to the council included the county opening its spring burn window for residential green-waste burns from March 30 to May 30. The council advised residents that they must obtain a permit from the Box Elder County Fire Marshal and meet local index conditions on the day of the burn.
