Planning commission conditionally approves McDermott land-use clearance for solar array

The Bluff Planning and Zoning Commission voted April 3 to approve a land-use clearance for a residential solar installation at the McDermott property, contingent on corrected site drawings that show the required setbacks.
Commission Chair Amanda Podmore opened the item and asked whether commissioners had concerns about setbacks. Applicant Patrick McDermott told the commission, “We would put it at least 30 feet back from the property line. We have we have tons of space there.” Commissioners asked the applicant to submit an updated drawing that correctly shows the property lines and the required side and rear setbacks.
Blaine Collins moved to approve the land-use clearance with the condition that the applicant provide corrected drawings showing at least a 15-foot side setback and proper property lines; Marsha Haydenfeld seconded the motion. The commission called the vote and approved the clearance unanimously.
Podmore told the applicants to deliver the corrected drawings and noted the outstanding administrative step of providing the application payment to town staff. She also said she would be out of the office for one week and asked Haydenfeld to act as chair if the paperwork arrived while she was away.
The commission’s conditional approval clears an administrative step for the solar installation; the applicant and staff must provide the corrected site plan and make the required payment before the building permit and installation proceed.
