Comal County commissioners approve routine claims, bond extensions, transfers and ARPA repayment

Comal County Commissioners approved a set of routine actions that included claims payments, surety bond extensions and releases for subdivisions, administrative transfers, asset transfers between county departments and a required return of unspent federal ARPA funds.
The court first approved claims as presented: electronic funds transfers of $1,201,937.80 and regular claims of $794,923.64 for a total of $1,996,861.44. The motion to approve claims passed by voice vote.
The court accepted a verification certificate extending the surety term for construction bond number 7901181740 for Veramendi Precinct 27, Unit 1, and acknowledged completion and release of an off-site water surety construction bond HSHNSU0852570 for the same Veramendi area. Commissioners approved amendment number 1 to an irrevocable standby letter of credit NUSCGS051937 as a one-year extension of surety for Meyer Ranch Unit 14 and authorized the county judge to sign the associated agreement with the developer.
The court also approved an order (No. 541) granting cancellation of Lots 6R and 7R of Ranch Louise under the cited local code provision referenced in the hearing as "2 32 code." In addition, the commissioners approved an ACH payment of $272,387.08 to the U.S. Department of the Treasury to return unobligated Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds (ARPA) and accepted an amendment to the letter of agreement between the Community Supervision and Corrections Department and Comal County to increase compensation by $7,200 under the Office of the Governor FY25 specialty courts grant.
Other approved items included Order No. 543 granting disposition of salvage and surplus property in advance of a county auction; asset transfers of unit 3055 (2002 Ford F-354) from the Fire Marshal’s office to the Road Department and unit 4029 (2017 Ford Transit van) from Purchasing to Facilities Maintenance; and the court moved forward on various procedural agenda items. The court did not take action on a proposed order prohibiting outdoor burning at this meeting and continued that item for a later date.
