The office told committees it has a backlog that was reported as 77 days in January 2025 and that staff often work overtime to manage workload. The requested administrative assistant would handle customer service tasks and free existing staff to focus on more complex claims; additional contract staff would provide supplemental administrative support.
Senator Dondero Loop moved approval; Assemblymember Bachus seconded. The motion carried by voice vote. Fiscal staff were authorized to make technical adjustments.
