The Nevada Assembly Committee on Ways and Means on Tuesday recommended passage of Assembly Bill 507, which revises provisions related to state financial administration and clarifies when proposed changes to an agency work program must be submitted to the Interim Finance Committee under Nevada law.
Fiscal analyst Ms. Kaufman summarized the bill and said it "clarifies the legislative intent behind the two‑part test required for work program submissions to the IFC pursuant to Nevada Revised Statute 353.220." She told the committee the bill would require a proposed work program revision first to meet a $75,000 minimum threshold, and then to result in either a change of at least 20 percent or $350,000 (whichever is lower) in the expenditure level approved by the Legislature for any expense category before the revision must go to the Interim Finance Committee for approval. The bill also provides that a proposed revision may not be divided into separate requests to avoid the $75,000 threshold.
There were no individuals who testified in support, opposition or neutral on AB 507, and the committee heard no amendments. A motion recommending passage was made by Assembly Member Bacchus and seconded by Assembly Member Hategui. Members responded aye and the motion carried unanimously; Chair Monroe Moreno said she would assign the floor statement to herself.
The committee opened public comment and reported no callers. The meeting was adjourned following the two work session items.
