Newton adopts 2024 International Fire Code with state fire marshal revisions
The commission adopted an ordinance updating the city's fire code to the 2024 International Fire Code. City staff said the state fire marshal approved most local amendments; a few requested amendments were denied but may be appealed later.

The Newton City Commission voted to adopt the 2024 International Fire Code on April 8, replacing the previous 2018 edition the city had adopted in 2021.
