The GSP is a regional nonprofit that promotes a trail network connecting San Antonio to Austin along Edwards Aquifer recharge areas.
GSP representatives described a multi‑year planning effort, funded in part by TxDOT, to map corridors, prioritize segments and produce schematic designs and cost estimates. GSP said it intends to complement existing local and River Authority trail plans and to pursue community engagement and corridor studies over an 18‑month process to refine project feasibility.
Commissioners asked for clearer mapping of how GSP corridors align with county and city plans and for attention to South Side and mission‑area connections. Commissioner Clay Flores, who chairs the Alamo Area Metropolitan Planning Organization, asked GSP to better depict links to south precinct neighborhoods. The court approved a resolution of support and asked staff to work with GSP on stakeholder engagement and corridor analysis; commissioners emphasized the need to prioritize segments that maximize community access and fundability.
