Board finalizes term structure for new Eau Claire Economic Development Committee

The Eau Claire County Board on April 2 adopted an ordinance creating a code section that sets term lengths and staggered expirations for the Economic Development Committee.
Supervisor Russell explained that the ordinance completes the formation of the committee by specifying two-year terms for general committee members, with terms expiring on the third Tuesday in April of even-numbered years for county-board appointees to align with the county-board term schedule. The committee has two county supervisors and four at-large members, and it will determine which community members'terms expire next year versus later years, Russell said.
The measure passed 27-0 on second reading; supervisors described the action as a formalization of an earlier decision that created the committee.
"It's just completing the process. We forgot to put the term limits in there when we first did it," a supervisor said during the explanation.
