Kossuth County’s auditor updated the board on the status of the county’s financial audit and an outstanding inventory/capital assets issue tied to the Solutions financial software (now owned by Harris). The auditor said that Solutions has experienced staff and support disruptions after an acquisition, causing problems with depreciation calculations, year-to-year balance transfers and capital asset reporting.
The county has submitted requested reports to the outside auditor (Gartner & Company) but said it is waiting for a Solutions programming fix before scheduling the final audit work; an extension to June 30 for certain reporting requirements was previously granted. The auditor said she is working with Solutions support and an external contractor (RemuGov was mentioned as a product started by former Solutions employees) to resolve outstanding issues and complete the capital asset inventory.
Supervisors were told the situation is not unique to Kossuth County; other counties are experiencing similar problems with Solutions after staff turnover and reduced vendor responsiveness. Staff said they will continue to push for fixes so the audit can be scheduled and noted the county’s desire for a more stable long-term software solution for financial reporting.
