Raymond Park construction advances; Frontier Park erosion work done, bridge repairs still needed

Kurtz Bealhartz, parks development staff member, updated the Parks and Recreation Board on March 13 about several construction and erosion projects.
Bealhartz said work at Raymond Park is progressing: the restroom and concession building is taking shape and crews are moisture-conditioning the future pickleball and tennis court areas. "I think we're about 75 on it," he said of the restroom/concession building's progress. He said playground equipment is ready to ship but will be installed last to avoid safety risks while construction continues.
At Frontier Park, crews completed an erosion-remediation bag wall and were finishing sod placement just before the Fishing Derby. Bealhartz said the team completed that work in time for the event but noted the site becomes very wet when it rains, which slows progress.
At the Dough Branch property, Bealhartz described a creek crossing where an existing bridge sits above a seven- to eight-foot drop; crews plan to "armor the sides of the stream bank" to prevent the bridge from being washed out. He said the town will seek funding in a future bond program—possibly next year or the year after—to replace that bridge and several similar bridges.
Bealhartz said the town has contracted Kimley Horn for planning and public outreach on erosion projects and that he planned a multi-hour site walk with the firm. No immediate replacement funding was approved at the meeting.
Dan Baker, the department director, later said staff will include potential park projects and approximate costs for a bond committee discussion scheduled for March 27.
