A staff member for SPRINGDALE SCHOOL DISTRICT said Thursday the district is nearing completion on multiple school construction and renovation projects and that the board will schedule a facilities tour.
The staff member said Central Junior High’s former cafeteria has been converted into a new library, with a circulation counter on the south end and a multiuse room behind storefront windows. “We’re pretty much just finishing up doing the final punch list,” the staff member said. The staff member also described an east corridor that will link the gym to a new wing and the main office and noted restroom work in that area.
At the Professional Development Center (the district’s former after‑school program building), the staff member reported electricians and plumbers are working and much of the above‑ceiling work is complete. “HVAC is going on over there now,” the staff member said.
The staff member said demolition at the lock building is finished and crews are “doing a lot of blocking in that building and getting ready to insulate the walls and the ceiling to bring it up to meet the standards of the state.”
On athletics, the staff member said baseball and softball fields at Harbor and at Springdale are substantially complete, with only a small punch list remaining and games already being played on the fields. “They’re playing games on those fields,” the staff member said.
The staff member said furniture for phase 3 has been ordered and the district is planning to move into that phase the week after spring break.
Board member Dr. Cleveland asked about scheduling a facilities tour; the staff member and Dr. Cleveland discussed possible Thursday mornings. “It might take about 2 hours. I know you’re really busy,” Dr. Cleveland said. The staff member confirmed, “We can set that up.”
No formal motions or votes were recorded on these updates; the discussion resulted in staff agreeing to arrange the facility tour and to continue project work and punch‑list completion.
