Planning Commission finds Solvang capital improvement program consistent with general plan, debates parking and long-term projects

The Solvang Planning Commission on June 2 adopted Planning Commission Resolution 25-04 by a 5-0 vote, finding that the City of Solvang—s Fiscal Year 2025–26 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) is consistent with the city—s general plan.
Public Works Director Bridget Paris presented the CIP overview and told commissioners the program covers wastewater, water, stormwater, facility and parks projects, alternative-transportation projects and street and road improvements. Paris said the Planning Commission—s role that evening was to determine whether projects listed in the CIP conform to the policies of the 2024 general plan; final project selection and funding are policy decisions for the City Council.
