The Town of Flower Mound Transportation Commission voted March 11 to recommend a master-plan amendment (MPA 25-00001) that reclassifies two mixed-use arterial segments in the First Ranch development as Urban Minor Arterials and forwards the item to the Planning and Zoning Commission on March 24 and to Town Council on April 7.
Commissioners and staff said the primary change would remove on-street parking on the two segments, reduce the right-of-way from 100 feet to 90 feet and retain a four-lane divided cross section (two 12-foot lanes each direction). Staff and the developer representative said the change produces only a slight increase in roadway capacity because removing on-street parking reduces turning and parking-related friction.
