Arlington County Board moves into closed session citing Virginia code provisions
Summary
Chair moved (and Mr. Spain seconded) that the County Board convene a closed meeting under specified Virginia code sections to discuss personnel, bargaining/negotiating positions, economic development and legal matters; the board voted to enter closed session.
At the conclusion of the public work session on March 13, the County Board moved into a closed meeting. The chair read a motion: “I move that the county board convenes a closed meeting as authorized by Virginia code sections 2.2 dash 37 11.8 0.1, comma 3, comma 5, comma 7 and 8 for discussions regarding the performance of ward appointees and discussions regarding the disposition of bargaining position or negotiating strategy of the county and discussions regarding the expansion of an existing business or industry where no previous announcement has been made of the business or industry's interest in locating or expanding the county's litigating posture and consultation with the county attorney regarding the applicability of certain laws and enforcement actions on local government.”
The motion was seconded by Mr. Spain, the chair called for a voice vote and the board voted to convene the closed session.
