He said the department did not budget for the replacements and is seeking full grant funding.
Commissioners asked whether the city qualifies as a recipient and how the Community Foundation's fund (the Matheson fund was mentioned by staff) prioritizes youth sports; staff said the foundation accepts varied arrangements and the Matheson-designated fund targets youth baseball, making the request a good fit. The motion to approve the application and allow the director to sign the grant agreement passed by roll call vote.
If awarded, staff said the department plans to phase replacements across complexes rather than incur a single large unbudgeted expense.
