Council Extends Infrastructure Deadline for Development Amid Utility Delays

"It was originally in, it was supposed to be done in, the first 1 was December... extended to December 23... And now we're extending this to July of this year," Dana said.
Todd McKinnis, who identified himself as representing the developer, told council subcontractor errors placed water and gas lines in incorrect locations and other contractors caused delays with dirt work. "We had some significant mistakes that were made, by subcontractors and other folks that caused water lines and gas lines to be in the wrong spot," McKinnis said. He said the owner expects the revised timeline will be met going forward.
Council voted to approve the extension. The applicant was not present at the initial presentation; the developer's representative answered questions during the meeting.
The amendment permits additional time to complete required infrastructure work without further formal action by the council, according to staff comments recorded in the meeting.
