Hangar tenant granted temporary occupancy while resolving curb, gutter and paving requirement

A tenant who is moving into a hangar at Hurricane Municipal Airport told the Airport Advisory Board that city engineering asked him to extend curb, gutter and asphalt beyond what he expected as a condition of official occupancy.

The tenant said he received temporary occupancy after a building inspection but that the city asked him to complete additional site work before granting final occupancy. The tenant said he had agreed to perform additional asphalt and curb-and-gutter work to satisfy the city; he said he disagreed with the requirement but that the work was already in progress and that he would pay to complete it.

During the discussion the tenant said inspection paperwork showed a small outstanding item (a missing grab bar and an outstanding sign) and that engineering asked for additional improvements near the property entrance. The tenant said he and engineering staff agreed to remove a fence and extend improvements to a specified point so that final occupancy could be issued after the work was complete.

Board members asked staff to confirm the engineering directive and to provide the precise scope and distances for the required improvements; the transcript included a numeric figure that was unclear in context, so board members requested formal documentation from engineering to confirm the requirement and the agreed scope.

The tenant told the board the site staking and preliminary work are complete and that he was moving forward with compliance to obtain final occupancy.
