KEDCO reports multiple economic development projects and attainable housing efforts

Kosciusko Economic Development Corporation (KEDCO) staff provided an update on local economic development activity, reporting business recruitment efforts, a new residential development that has broken ground, and initiatives to support attainable housing and manufacturers’ access to grant funding.
Susie Light delivered the update on behalf of KEDCO; Peggy (a KEDCO staffer) was working on a housing project in Fort Wayne and was not present. Susie reported several business recruitment projects under confidential code names (Project Grizzly, Project Racer, Project Boot), noting Project Racer expects a public announcement before summer and Project Boot is being coordinated with the city of Warsaw to secure a site, possibly for an orthopedic‑related employer.
KEDCO said Rabbit Ridge in Syracuse has broken ground and will comprise 52 duplex units. The Warsaw Racquet Club property was acquired by Thane White (owner of Fit24) and an open house was scheduled for Jan. 11; KEDCO noted plans to host pickleball and other indoor court activities at the facility. KEDCO will host a manufacturing roundtable at the Ivy Tech Orthopedic and Advanced Manufacturing Training Center, followed by an entrepreneurial social at Ivy Tech’s main campus.
On attainable housing, KEDCO said seven projects are at various stages from concept to groundbreaking. KEDCO is partnering with Club 720 to engage local lenders and boards on capital stacking and credit‑readiness strategies to help developers and potential homebuyers access financing; Club 720’s model focuses on credit improvement to a 720 score. KEDCO also announced a collaboration with Purdue University's Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) to provide local manufacturers with a searchable database of tax incentives, grants and funding opportunities and said county staff had already earmarked projects for MEP analysis.
Susie Light introduced new KEDCO board members who will represent the county and private sector interests, naming Mike Long (county council), Carrie Greinger (commissioners), Eric Meyer (Zimmer Biomet finance) and Frank Levinson (Team Fab).
