The Atchison County Commission approved a $74,775 agreement with King’s Construction for culvert replacement on N. 5-24.8 (listed in the meeting as on 314th Road between K-7 and Cedric) and authorized a notice to proceed on Jan. 21.
Road Superintendent Joe Snyder presented the agreement, noting there were four signed copies to distribute to the clerk, the contractor and county records. “This is agreement on the replacement of Colvert m 5 24.8 with Kings Construction, for $74,775,” Snyder said.
Commissioners voted to authorize the chair to sign the agreement and later approved a notice to proceed. Snyder read the notice’s dates aloud: the agreement date is Jan. 20, 2025, and the date of completion listed in the notice is April 20, 2025.
Why it matters: The contract funds a county road infrastructure repair; Snyder said the county will supply the culverts and contract the installation. Snyder told the board the contractor hoped to begin work next week.
Votes and administration: The board moved and approved the agreement copies and the notice to proceed; county staff will finalize the purchase order and related paperwork before work begins.
Ending: Road staff will provide the signed agreement copies to the clerk, the contractor, and the county file; the superintendent indicated construction could start the week following the meeting.
