Public commenters tell Cherokee County board that a statewide "algorithm" is undermining elections; callers urge board to act

Several members of the public used the Cherokee County Board of Elections public-comment period to allege statewide election irregularities and urge the board to act, while another commenter warned against proposals that would limit voting to a single day.

Beth Matura said in public comment that Georgia “does not comply with election law” and urged the board to review a summary her group published. Jan Morrow and Rita Robinson claimed the problem lies in an algorithm in state systems rather than at the county level and said national figures and outside groups have documented the issue; Robinson urged the board to “do something” and called the Secretary of State dishonest.

Another commenter, Bruce Barnaman, said he has “a problem with convicted felons being in office” but expressed concern that limiting elections to a single day would disenfranchise voters who rely on early or absentee voting. Barnaman said early and advanced voting days are very busy and allow people who cannot vote on a single election day to participate.

The board did not engage in back-and-forth responses during the public-comment period; at the start of public comments the chair reminded speakers they would have three minutes and that the board would listen but not respond.
