LAREDO ISD trustees met in executive session on June 5 to discuss qualifications for candidates for the position of interim superintendent, citing Texas Government Code sections 551.071 and 551.074. When the board returned to open session, Trustee Doctor Luis Rios moved to instruct the human resources department to internally post the availability of the interim superintendent position and request applications for candidates who meet qualifications outlined by the Texas Association of School Boards, adding two district-specific criteria: at least three years of school or district administrative experience, and a preference (but not requirement) that candidates hold a superintendent certificate.
