Summary
U.N. humanitarian partners reported a violent surge in parts of Colombia including a day with more than two dozen attacks, causing deaths, injuries and widespread disruptions; the U.N. said its response plan remains underfunded.
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said the past week was one of the most violent this year in Colombia, with more than two dozen armed attacks reported on June 10 across the departments of Cauca and Valle del Cauca.
OCHA reported the worst day affected 13 municipalities including Cali, where the attacks left eight people dead and more than 80 injured, including children, and involved explosive devices, sniper fire and drones. Authorities implemented protective measures such as hospital alerts, school evacuations and suspension of public transport.
The briefing said more than 471,000 people have been impacted so far in 2025 in Cauca and Valle del Cauca, representing more than a third of the national total cited by U.N. partners. OCHA is working to maintain humanitarian access and prioritizing preparedness in shelter, child protection, health and food security, but the 2025 humanitarian response plan for Colombia is underfunded at less than 16% funded, with about $54 million received of $342 million required.
