Staff presented the task order as necessary to document building damage and meet FEMA and insurance requirements for cost recovery and mitigation funding. The scope includes structural analysis to determine remediation needs, options for adding pitch to flat roofs, and documentation needed for reimbursement and mitigation planning.
Council members asked about the firm’s history with the city. Staff said Civil Corps Engineering has been in the city’s professional-services pool since 2019 and had responded to the task request; staff also noted several firms were contacted and that Civil Corps was the only respondent to this specific proposal.
Councilmember (mover) made a motion and Councilmember Nicole Maddox seconded; the resolution passed unanimously on a voice vote. Staff indicated the mayor and city manager are authorized to execute the task order and that work would proceed to provide formal engineering recommendations to guide repairs and FEMA/insurance submittals.
