Orange County officials presented a draft annual work program for projects funded by the county’s transit sales tax and recommended the document be released for public comment. The program funds operating, administrative and capital projects managed by GoTriangle and participating jurisdictions.
Nish (county transit staff) explained the annual work program translates the long‑range transit plan into a one‑year budget and project list. Staff described a move toward project agreements and sponsor‑specific allocations rather than percentage splits; quarterly (moving to monthly) reimbursement and a robust reporting system were also discussed.
The draft lists operating and administrative projects and capital projects; several entries request additional funding beyond the currently programmed amounts. Staff said the overall work program remains financially balanced under GoTriangle’s model and that the document will be revised after the public comment period and before the county’s April public hearing. GoTriangle is scheduled to give final approval in June.
Commissioners asked for more detail on individual capital entries, including a $500,000 line item tied to a regional corridor study; staff said they would provide project‑level sheets with scopes and funding breakdowns in the next iteration. Commissioners also noted progress on bus‑stop and facility projects shown in the plan.
