Anna Community Library project nears opening; digital collection and app to launch

City staff and volunteer leaders told the City Council on Feb. 25 that construction at the Anna Community Library is nearly complete and library services will be rolling out ahead of a planned opening later this year.
"You are now officially card-carrying members of the Anna Community Library," Mark Marchand, director of neighborhood services, told council and the meeting audience after showing mock-ups of printed membership cards. Marchand said the library's mobile app is now available and the library's digital catalog of hundreds of thousands of titles is "about ready to go live."
Alexis Wanapol, who identified herself as president of both the Friends of the Anna Library and the library foundation, thanked council and staff for the yearslong volunteer effort. "It is slated to be opened in September," Wanapol said, referring to the planned opening date.
Marchand credited years of volunteer input for shaping the facility's services and said the building's interior allocations reflect resident priorities developed through the planning process. The city indicated upcoming promotional and onboarding efforts for library patrons as the digital catalog and app are launched.
