Town schedules Feb. 4 joint work session on unified development code; consultants to present

Town staff told the Planning and Zoning Commission on Jan. 21 that a joint work session with the Town Council and planning commissioners will be held Feb. 4 to review progress on the unified development code rewrite. The session is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. and two hours have been reserved for discussion; the regular P&Z meeting will follow at 7 p.m.

Staff said commissioners would receive summary materials in advance but not the full code; the Feb. 4 meeting is intended as an overview of the process, the direction of the rewrite and initial presentation from the consultants. Staff said the full drafting process will stretch across roughly another 90 days and involve moving development standards currently scattered across multiple codes (planning, subdivision, engineering, public works, building and fire) into a unified document.

On other business, staff updated the commission on a separate development known as The Gates: applicants have returned revised site plans multiple times and the project is still under revision; staff estimated the matter may return at the end of February. The commission’s chair and staff said additional materials and portions of the code will be circulated for review as the process continues.
