County Engineer Doug presented the assurances to the board and explained the reason for the formality. He said the assurances and the accompanying Title VI nondiscrimination policy must be reviewed and approved by local agencies that receive federal funds for transportation projects. “This motion is to approve and authorize the chair to sign the Title VI nondiscrimination agreement,” Doug told the board before the motion was moved and seconded.
Supervisors did not raise substantive questions during the discussion. After a motion by Supervisor Stecker and a second by Supervisor Wacker, the board voted in favor and the clerk recorded the motion as carrying unanimously.
The signed assurances will be kept with county records and will be used when the county applies for or administers federally funded transportation projects. The board did not attach any additional conditions to the approval and did not schedule further action on the item.
