Staff noted the county and area aging agency plan to pilot a limited number of such units for clients and that municipalities without zoning may be prioritized in deployment. The commission encouraged clear regulation to allow temporary units where appropriate while preventing long‑term conversion without required approvals.
The commission also reviewed a proposed “glamping” project near Marysville: a developer is considering high‑end Airstream-style units on a 34‑acre parcel that would house roughly 10–15 units. Staff advised applicants that the proposal as presented would be treated as a campground and therefore is not permitted in the R‑1 district; the commission suggested the Conservation/Forest district where campgrounds are allowed.
