Board appoints members to Placer County Charter Review Committee

The Placer County Board of Supervisors appointed district representatives and two at-large members to a county Charter Review Committee, which is required by the county charter to review the charter at regular intervals.

Background and process: The county charter calls for review of the charter every five years by a seven-member committee (one member from each supervisorial district plus two at-large appointees). The clerk of the board opened applications for the at-large seats and publicized the vacancies; staff received 19 applications during the open period.

Appointments and next steps: The board appointed the recommended district nominees and selected two at-large members from the application pool. With the panel formed, county staff will coordinate schedules and convene the committee; state noticed public meetings are required and any committee recommendations would come back to the Board and, if adopted by the Board, to county voters as a ballot measure.
